The White Tiger

--The creature that gets born only once in every generation. The white tiger -- By this time you might be familiar with this name "The White Tiger" written by "Aravind Adiga" and won Booker prize for this year. I really want to know how a booker prize book looks like. I read through this book with great excitement. 276 pages completed in 2 nights. I requested a hold on this book in Russel Library, Connecticut. I was desperately waiting for this book to come into my hands. I was reading through this book with loads of enthusiasm and it was cut down by the end of the book. I really dont know the criteria for Booker prize. If you understand let me know....here is the site http://www.themanbookerprize.com/ This book narrates how a son of rickshaw puller become entrepenuer in Bangalore (by slittting the throat of his owner). Thumbs up: some of the quotes in the book are revolutionary. Only three nations in the world never allowed foreigners to rule them its land for long

Quotes from my readings......

Hi Friends, Here are some quotes from my book readings....... From Whale done.....Ken Blanchard Convey the needs, catch them doing right. The more attention you pay to a behaviour, the more it will be repeated. If you dont want to encourage poor behaviour, dont spend a lot of time on it. Instead rechannel your energy. Build trus, accentuate the positive, when mistake occurs redirect the energy. ABC of performance A = Activationr (Whatever gets the performance going) B = Behaviour (Performance that occurs) C = Consequences (your response to performance) No response, -ve response, redirection, positive response. Redirection response: Describe the error or problem as soon as possible, clearly and without blame. show its -ve impact if appropriate, take the blame for not making the task clear. Go over the task in detail and make sure it is clearly understood. Express your continuing trust and confidence in the person. GOTCHA: Catching the people doing things wrong. WHALE DONE

I know i picked a hot topic again!!!! aka Social Networking...... When i am doing Orkut i wondered how many such sites are there and how it is taking effect globally, so my investigation landed into an article on social networking..... Find my observations. Social Networking is web based community of people with similar interests. Some of the famous social networkig groups are orkut, Youtube (sharing video), Linked In, Face book, Myspace etc., Here is a master list of social networking sites. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_social_networking_websites It is considered as best innovation after email. Social networking sites are opening gates for one another. (i.e if you have Face book you can link to your orkut account in the near future.....) One of the best web economies in coming days !!!! Advertisements industry is betting big on Social networking. Myspace got $700 - $800 million in advertisement in 07-08. Face book $300 - $350 million, it is 70 million member strong. Linked In

My impression of the American people can be summarized by a quotation from Benjamin Franklin, “Those things that hurt instruct!” I realized that people in this part of the world meet their problems head on. They attempt to get out of them rather than suffer them. A beautiful quote: For all your days prepare And meet them ever alike When you are the anvil, bear- When you are the hammer, strike. Bread baked without love is bitter bread that feeds but half a man’s hunger. -Khalil Gibran An Incident which reflects the great leadership quality of Prof Sarabhai… Once Prof Sarabhai visited Thumba, at that time there was an ongoing development project on surface to air missile. Team thought to show some development to Prof and asked him to operate the timer circuit to activate the nose-cone jettisoning. When Prof pressed the timer it didn’t worked, team was disappointed and tried to demonstrate it through direct connection to pyros instead of using timer. It did work this time. After this whol

My Experiments with Truth

Here i am giving some quotes from the book i am reading "My Experiments with Truth".... This book is autobiography of Gandhi ji........ Some quotes i liked / inferred from the book, These are my perceptions need not be exact quotes in the books ------Disclaimer :-) You are the scientist of your own life, if you dont experiment you dont invent anything. You will receive acceptance and rejection at every stage, as long as they satisfy your reason and heart in the path of achieving goals, You are on the right track. Karamchand Gandhi(faterh of mahatma gandhi) was married four times, he is son of 2nd wife of his father. Karamchand Gandhi's 2nd wife son is Mahtma Gandhi. Gandhi is the only student in his 1st class, who wrote spelling of 'kettle' wrong. All other students in the class wrote it correctly. He calls himself stupid. Harischandra and Shravan (who carried his blind parents for piligrimage) are his favourite historians. He believes they are historic because of

Kotha Bangaru Lokam

Kontha Bangaru Lokam Long time no good to see movies in Telugu.... Yesterday i watched a new movie that is released with lot of expectations i.e., Kotha Bangaru Lokam with lot of expectation and the reason for the expectation is only because of the Production House.....Smt. Anitha Productions (with many block busters like Bommarillu, Dil etc..).. Let me start how did i feel about the movie.......... Movie started with an narration of how a mom feel abt his child and her love towards her family and all.... Movie is mostly targetted the so called "TEENAGE AUDIENCE"... bt mostly concetrated on certain set of audience like Intermediate Students (i.e., Plus 1 and PLus 2 )....... Jayasudha (Hero Mother) is exceptionally good in playing a typical House wife in a remote place....Coming to our so called HERO.... I cn jst tell only onething to this guy i.e., people wa

Self Leadership......by Ken Blanchard

Hi Friends, this is book review of "Self Leadership and the one minute manager" by Ken Blanchard. Earlier i read the books written by Ken Blanchard like "One Minute Manager", "Whale Done" and this is the third one. Out of all the three i rate "Whale done" as the best book. This book explains important styles of leadership motivating, coaching , delegating and supporting. He explained all the phases with good examples. Some quick bits i liked in this book: challenge your limitations, assumptions personal relationship power works like a charm Knowledge power personal power relatinoship power task power position power set a clear goal generate an action plan provide time lines establish priorities Monitor and evaluate your work and give feedback. collaborate for success The only way in which any one can lead you is to restore to you the belief in your own guidance. --- henry miller Review: In this book author takes example of account manager who fa

What distinguishes a Sounding Rocket, Satellite Launch Vehicle (SLV) and Missile?

Sounding Rocket : They are used for probing the near earth environment including upper regions of atmosphere. They can carry scientific payloads to a height but they cannot impart the final velocity needed to orbit the payload. Satellite Launch Vehicle (SLV) : A launch vehicle injects into orbit a technological payload or satellite. At the final stage launch vehicle provides the necessary velocity for a satellite to enter an orbit. Missile : It has onboard guidance and ability to home onto targets. For a moving target missile should have the target tracking functions.

Dhirubhai Notorious or Famous???????

This article is about a legend called Dhirubhai. Ambani The collected information about Reliance founder Dhirubhai from book Polyster Prince (which is banned in INDIA) and from internet. These facts are eye openers for rotten politics or eye brow raisers for public or shot in the arm for Indian system or brain teasers for Tax / Finance authorities....... Whatever it is, a man dreamed for something achieved it, the path he chosen might be controversial but not the hard work he put for it, neither his capabilities nor his thoughts..... One thing for sure 2 generations before me they dont know about this guy , might be no body discusses about him after 2 generations, i am proud to be from the same historic period as he is..... His famous quotes: Think big, think fast, think ahead. Ideas are no one's monopoly "We cannot change our Rulers, but we can change the way they Rule Us. "Changing orbits is the key to our progress" Some Unofficial statements made by him : I dont

Thoughts and Actions

Just thought of sharing some boring philosophy, read it when you are completely bored, you will feel like there are more boring things in the world :-) Dont discuss about your thoughts, because your Actions should speak your thoughts. Dont discuss about your Actions, because you should be sure enough what you are doing is right. Anytime try to answer these questions to yourself What's in you differentiate you from others? What's in a day excites you? How many steps you are closer to your dream today? How many times i laughed today? What makes you worried and what action you can take about it? Hope the above questions will help to control your thoughts and lineup your actions. "It is better to have enough thoughts and actions for some of them to be wrong, than to be always right by having no thoughts and actions at all" I am dedicating this blog to my failures in the past, and for the failures which not yet arrived, for the failures where my companions dont want to cla
