World Bank Stats
This article is mix of statistics on Growth in India and rest of the countries in the world with respect to debt. Some key World bank Stats on India that caught my eye are as follows:
Growth
Population Growth ( 2001- 2007) : 1.4%
GDP Growth (2007- 2008): 9.0%
Children Underweight (below 5 years): 46%
India is one of the world’s fastest growing economies with average growth rates of 9% over the past four years.
India emerged as a global player in information technology, business process outsourcing, telecommunications, and pharmaceuticals.
GDP:
As per 2005 statistics of World bank, US contributes to around 22% of global GDP, China is Second , India is 5th. Interestingly UK, Russia are next to India in the world GDP share.
Debt:
At the end of June 2009, the World Bank group had 61 active projects with a net commitment of about $14.9 billion.
US has debt of $13.45 Trillions against GDP of $14.26 Trillions (90.8%) . UK, Switzerland have highest debt as per Debt to GDP ratio.
Switzerland (422%) and the United Kingdom (408%). Believe it or not Ireland is at 1,267%.
Notable countries which have extremely low debt-to-GDP ratios are Brazil (13%), Singapore (10.7%), China (4.7%) and India (4.6%). This might be because of less foreign investors confidence.
External debt is more dangerous as citizens owe to outside nation, Internal debt is what country owe to its citizens in the form of bonds, interests etc.,

The year is 2020 and India's much awaited MAN-ON-THE-MOON mission is
